Metalcasters of Minnesota (MCM) is a trade group representing Minnesota metalcasting companies for over 30 years.
As stated in our mission,
MCM is committed to promoting the
importance of metalcasting in Minnesota and to being a
strong advocate for our industry through effective
lobbying on a local, state, and national level.
MCM has been a valuable resource in developing,
implementing and maintaining business friendly rules and
regulations.
The metalcasting industry has been
around for centuries. The parts
manufactured in today’s foundries and die casters can be
found everywhere. Recycling is at the
core of the production process which takes metallic
products at the end of their service life, remelts and casts them into new shapes for tomorrow.
While this process is very energy intensive, it
requires much less energy than producing those same
components from raw materials alone.
Using the latest in technology and production controls
available today, metalcasters continue to provide good
paying manufacturing jobs along with extensive community
support. The dirty, soot-filled smoky
images of metalcasters from decades ago have been
replaced by highly efficient, environmentally friendly
production equipment.
Because Metalcasting is an industrial
environment that requires the handling of molten metal
at temperatures that approach 3,000⁰ F,
attention to safe practices is a core value.
MCM's
safety committee supports this strongly by bringing safety
professionals together to share best practices and to
review the effectiveness of each other’s programs.
